We’re here for you!
…for immediate therapeutic support during crises, times of grief, anger, anxiety, worry or bereavement
…for support sessions until you secure a therapy place at another practice or clinic
…for support through difficult times, when giving evidence, in court, at hospital or in prison
…for mental wellbeing, mental hygiene or simply just a listening ear
…for professional exchange, guidance and supervision for social workers specialising in schools
We offer…
Individual therapy, couples therapy, group therapy and psychosocial support using evidence-based, manualised and non-manualised therapeutic approaches.
These include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), approaches from ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) and approaches from depth psychology. EMDR and structured hypnosis are also part of the programme, and we can simulate real-world scenarios, thereby successfully helping patients with anxiety in many cases through safe confrontation within a protected space.
Oh, and one very important point!
The licence to practise medicine in the field of psychotherapy was granted by the Regulatory Authority of the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen on the basis of the submitted academic and further training certificates. This does not constitute a medical licence, and the professional title is ‘alternative practitioner’ restricted to the field of psychotherapy.
How quickly can I get an appointment for an initial consultation?
We endeavour not to keep you waiting for longer than two weeks
What happens after the initial consultation?
If you can envisage becoming a patient at our practice and we see a chance to help you, the assessment phase begins: you complete various questionnaires, we conduct interviews to establish your medical history (what has happened, what is troubling you, what are the possible underlying factors) and finally we use this to create a psychogram and a sociogram. We then discuss the diagnosis together and develop a treatment plan.
Do I have to pay for the treatment myself, or will my health insurance cover the costs?
If you are a victim of a criminal offence, we can, in consultation with you, submit an application under SGB XIV; furthermore, we have our own fund that covers all or part of the costs. Similar to how health insurance funds settle accounts with therapists, the entire initial assessment (the first 3–5 sessions) is, of course, free of charge at Traumahilfe-Bremen, even though it is a private practice. Only afterwards do you decide whether you wish to continue the work that has begun. From this point onwards, the therapy session is charged to you at €46. People of limited means with no income receive a credit of €17 per hour from the fund, meaning they pay a co-payment of €29. Various forms of therapy that are generally not covered by health insurance (e.g. couples therapy) are also charged for from the very first session at Traumahilfe-Bremen.
